ROOM - FOR YOU

Whenever I leave Ireland, my friends there say to me, 'Safe home'.   To get back home safely - that's what I want.
In my own life, I want to know I'm going 'safe home' to Father God as well.   A ferry or a plane will get me home from Ireland:   but how can I get home to God?

A HOME IN HEAVEN

God's Son, Jesus Christ, said a wonderful thing to his friends one evening:   'In my Father's house are many rooms - I'm going to get a place ready for you' (in John's Gospel chapter 14).

How do you build a room?   You need wood and nails.   Jesus got those one Friday, in terrible circumstances.   We have all done wrong things in our lives, spoken unkind words, had evil thoughts.   God calls those things 'sin' and they cut us off from him.

After living a perfect life, Jesus allowed people to nail him to a wooden cross, where he took our sin in his own body.   He was cut off from his own Father, dying to pay for our wrong.

When he was dead they put him in a tomb, with the entrance sealed with a huge stone.   On the Sunday morning, God the Father made the stone roll away, raising Jesus from the dead.   There's the stone, to go with the wood and nails, for the building.

Now Jesus has returned to Heaven, where he is preparing rooms for his friends.

THE WAY HOME

How can I become a friend of Jesus, to be sure I will be going 'safe home' to Heaven?   Jesus said, 'I am the way - and the truth - and the life.   You can only come to the Father by me'.

I can never be good enough for Heaven by my own efforts.   I cannot get rid of my sin.   But Jesus has done just that on the cross:   he can forgive me.

How can I live a life which pleases God?   I can if I let Jesus live in my heart by his Holy Spirit:   'I am the life', he said.
Jesus is the way home to Heaven.   He is also the Lord who will live in my life now and every day until I get there.

GETTING READY

One day in my own life I trusted myself to Jesus Christ.   He became my Saviour and my Friend.   As I live, I live by his power.   One day he will call me home.   I'm ready!

Here is a prayer of trust:

'Lord Jesus Christ, I give you my whole life now.   Please come and live in my heart.   Wash away all my sins.   Fill me with your Holy Spirit.   Thank you that you will never leave me'.

Pray it and mean it.   The promise of Jesus is, 'Anyone who comes to me, I will never turn them away'.   Tell someone who you know is a real Christian of your prayer.   Or let me know.   Email me today:   Ian Knox at office@fortythreetrust.com.

God bless you as you now go 'safe home'!
